My relationship with Shawn was a professional one. Shawn had plans to travel as a registered nurse and when he decided to start I was the recruiter that he worked with. While I never met Shawn face to face throughout the course of a year that we worked together and then stayed in touch after, I got to know Shawn.
I am originally from Wisconsin and that was our common bond. We talked many times about places and things only people from that state could understand, laugh about and “get” the humor. While I no longer live there I generally return every year and visit my sister in Madison. Shawn spoke often of his family and nieces and nephews who inevitably came up when we discussed State Street, Michaels Custard and the red street crossing flags and the crazy people carrying them!
No less important is the nurse that Shawn was—he was a good one and well liked each place that he went.
I respected Shawn and appreciated his humor and wit, intelligence and kindness. He will be missed.
